This is an experience designed for those who enjoy feeling the territory step by step — and who know how to value a well-earned moment of rest.
The Guatín Trekking + Puritama Hot Springs combines walking, landscape, and relaxation into one continuous journey, where the path is just as meaningful as the destination.
The experience takes place in the Guatín area, following the Puritama River canyon — one of the most important watercourses in the Atacama Desert.
Unlike many circular routes, this is a one-way experience.
We begin at one point and finish at another, progressively crossing the canyon until reaching the hot springs.
The walk covers approximately 3 kilometers and takes around 1.5 hours, always at a pace adapted to the group.
Along the way, we gradually ascend through the canyon, passing through the area known as Purilibre (also referred to as Lower Hot Springs), where the presence of water already begins to transform the surrounding landscape.
During the hike, we observe the vegetation of the canyon, rock formations, the river’s flow, and the subtle transitions of the terrain.
The experience is guided with attention to pace, pauses, and group well-being.
To maintain energy, we include a light snack, thoughtfully prepared to accompany the walk without weighing it down.
At the end of the trek, we arrive at the Puritama Hot Springs Park, where the body finds exactly what it needs after the effort: warm water and time to unwind.
The name itself reveals its essence.
In Kunza, the ancestral language of the Atacameño people, Puri means water and Tama means hot — Puritama is, quite literally, “hot water.”
The hot springs are located within a natural canyon, where the Puritama River is naturally heated by underground geothermal activity.
The park features eight natural pools along the river, with temperatures ranging between 28°C and 33°C (82°F to 91°F).
The mineral-rich waters help relieve muscle tension and provide an immediate sense of relaxation.
Wooden walkways connect the pools, allowing you to move freely, choose your space, and enjoy the environment at your own pace.
The contrast between the physical effort of the trek and the stillness of the thermal waters is precisely what makes this experience so memorable.
After the bath, we return to San Pedro de Atacama feeling lighter — with the clear sense of having lived a complete experience, both active and restorative.
This experience operates with a minimum of 4 participants.
For smaller groups, it can be confirmed with the equivalent payment of four people. If additional participants join on the same date, a proportional refund is issued.
We always work with small groups, ensuring attention, safety, and a carefully guided experience.
This experience exists so you can walk through Atacama with intention — and end the day in the best possible way: immersed in warm waters, surrounded by the silence of the canyon.
