There are hidden places where water still flows — transforming the landscape completely.
The Hidden Waterfall Trek is a light and surprising experience, ideal for those looking for something different: closer, fresher, and more sensory.
We leave San Pedro de Atacama heading north, toward an area where the desert begins to change. Gradually, rock formations appear, and vegetation slowly emerges.
We reach the starting point of the hike.
The trek
The walk is short and accessible, done at a relaxed pace, following a small canyon.
The terrain alternates between sand, rocks, and small crossings, always guided with attention to the group.
Gradually, the sound of water begins to be heard.
And little by little, the landscape reveals itself.
The waterfalls
At the end of the trail, we find not just one, but three waterfalls.
The main one stands out, reaching approximately 8 meters (26 feet) in height — a striking contrast within the desert environment.
Two smaller waterfalls complete the setting, reinforcing the sense of discovery.
Flowing water, surrounding vegetation, and a cooler microclimate create an intimate and protected space.
You can stop, rest, and — if you wish — enter the water.
Here, time naturally slows down.
This is not a place of rush. It is a place of discovery.
After some time at the site, we return along the same path, carrying the feeling of having discovered a hidden side of Atacama.
