Float, observe, and feel the Atacama Salt Flat
This is an experience designed to be felt in your body.
Less walking, more presence. A journey that brings together water, salt, silence, and light — revealing a softer, more sensory side of the Atacama Salt Flat.
We leave San Pedro de Atacama in the afternoon, heading toward the largest salt flat in Chile. As we move away from the village, the landscape opens into a vast, white, and silent horizon where time seems to slow down.
Our first stop is Laguna Cejar.
Here, the experience is immediate — and unforgettable.
The high salt concentration allows your body to float effortlessly. Just step into the water and let yourself drift. The sensation is one of complete lightness, similar to the Dead Sea, but in a completely different setting — surrounded by desert and volcanoes.
More than swimming, it’s a new way of experiencing the desert.
We continue to Ojos del Salar, two small freshwater lagoons that appear as an unexpected contrast in the middle of the salt flat. Surrounded by vegetation and open sky, they reveal how water finds its way even in extreme environments.
A place to observe, take in the landscape, and understand the subtle balance of life in the Atacama.
We end the experience at Laguna Tebenquiche — one of the most silent and visually striking places in the region.
Its shallow, still waters create a natural mirror. The sky, mountains, and volcanoes reflect with almost unreal precision.
And then, the light shifts.
As the afternoon fades, colors soften, the wind calms, and the desert settles into a deeper silence.
During this moment, we prepare an outdoor cocktail with drinks and snacks — creating space to slow down, reflect, and simply be.
Here, it’s not about seeing more — it’s about feeling more.
If you’re looking for a more sensory experience, where the rhythm is guided by the environment rather than the itinerary, this is where that difference becomes clear.
Throughout the journey, your guide explains the formation of the Atacama Salt Flat — from extreme evaporation to salt concentration — as well as its ecological and cultural importance.
We return to San Pedro de Atacama in the late afternoon with a different kind of memory — less intensity, more connection.
Since this experience takes place at lower altitude and follows a relaxed pace, it is ideal for the first days of your trip or for those seeking a calmer moment without compromising on unforgettable landscapes.
