This is not a typical tour.
It is a carefully designed combination of two landscapes that, together, reveal a less obvious side of Atacama — quieter, wider, and deeply sensory.
The Hidden Lagoons of Baltinache + Vallecito experience is one of Atacama Connection’s exclusive tours, created for those who seek to go beyond the traditional routes — with time, rhythm, and a true reading of the territory.
For this reason, it operates with a minimum of 4 participants, ensuring a more attentive and personalized experience.
We leave San Pedro de Atacama behind and head into the open desert, where the landscape gradually becomes emptier.
And it is precisely in that emptiness that Atacama begins to reveal itself.
Our first stop is the Hidden Lagoons of Baltinache — a group of salt lagoons tucked away in the desert, with vivid shades of blue and green contrasting against the white ground.
In one of them, you can enter the water. The high salt concentration allows your body to float effortlessly — a light, curious, almost slowed-down sensation that connects you directly with the surrounding environment.
The other lagoons are observed from wooden walkways. With your guide’s explanation, you’ll understand how the interaction between salt, underground water, and intense evaporation creates a landscape that is as unlikely as it is delicate.
Silence here is not incidental — it is part of the experience.
Fewer people, less noise, more presence.
We then continue to Vallecito, a vast and lesser-visited area of the desert, defined by soft dunes, salt formations, and a constant sense of openness.
It is here that we encounter the Magic Bus.
More than a photo spot, it becomes a reference of scale — a small human object, isolated, almost absorbed by the landscape.
An invitation to observe, photograph, and simply be — without rush.
The surroundings allow for slow exploration, where you can feel the wind, the silence, and the texture of the desert beneath your feet.
A fresher, quieter atmosphere — ideal for starting the day at a gentle pace.
We include a full breakfast served in the desert, prepared by our team with care and simplicity.
A light-driven experience.
As the day ends, warm tones transform the landscape and the silence deepens.
As in our afternoon tours, we include an outdoor cocktail with drinks and snacks — a moment to pause and take it all in.
In both options, the experience is guided with a calm pace, attention to the group, and continuous adaptation to the day’s conditions.
This is not about rushing between stops — but about connecting places that truly belong together.
We return to San Pedro de Atacama with the feeling of having experienced something different — not only because of where we went, but because of how we were there.
If you are looking for a tour that brings together water, salt, open desert, and narrative, this is one of Atacama Connection’s most distinctive experiences.
